Eight of the eleven Argentine citizens who are in quarantine in Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus epidemic, will begin their return to the country on Tuesday on a flight facilitated by Ukraine to Kiev, where they will be isolated for 14 days before embarking definitively to Argentina, the Argentine Consulate in Beijing reported.
The Argentines, who travel at midnight local, headed in the morning (Argentine time) to Wuhan airport in different buses from different areas, along with passengers from Panama, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and Ecuador.
The plane will also travel around 50 Ukrainian passengers.
Once in Kiev, the Argentines will be quarantined for fourteen days in a "sanatorium" (health center for specific treatments) located about 300 kilometers from the capital of Ukraine.
From the fourteen people that the Argentine consulate hoped to repatriate, a man, a spouse of an Argentine, knew from the first moment that he could not travel because he is a Chinese citizen and the quarantine found him on an internal trip through his country and without a passport.
The Argentine consul in Beijing, Juan Ortín, explained that of the remaining thirteen "the Government of Ukraine did not authorize the trip of two Chinese citizens (a woman and a man spouses of two Argentines) and that meant that one of the families decided to stay in Wuhan. "
"None of the Argentines who travel had symptoms since the beginning of the quarantine, which takes almost a month," Ortín said.
And he stressed that to get on the plane "they will perform all medical checks, nobody with temperature can travel and during the flight they will be accompanied by a medical team that will check them"
The medical team, like the crew, will also remain in quarantine upon arrival.
