Coronavirus in France: 544 deaths in 24 hours, 21,340 deaths in total

According to the latest assessment from the Directorate General of Health, published this Wednesday evening, 5,218 patients are currently in intensive care


The Covid-19 killed "more than the heat wave of the summer of 2003", already underlined the Director general of Health Jérôme Salomon on Monday. This Wednesday, the death toll from the virus is progressing again, with 544 additional deaths, bringing the total to 21,340.

In detail, the DGS counts, in total, 13,236 deaths in hospitals, and 8,104 deaths in medico-social establishments, a good part of them having occurred in Ehpad.

29,741 people with Covid-19 are still hospitalized in more than a thousand establishments in France. A declining number has continued recently.

Falling resuscitations

The number of resuscitations also decreased, with a negative balance of 215, and a total of 5,218 patients in serious situation.

In total, Santé Publique France has 119,151 cases of contamination throughout the country. At least 40,657 patients are cured. This figure does not, however, include the healings of people who are not hospitalized, which are also numerous.
