Coronavirus in France: 243 new deaths, 26,230 deaths since the start of the epidemic

The Directorate General of Health still lists 2,868 patients hospitalized in intensive care for a SARS-CoV-2 infection.


Less than three days before the start of deconfinement, the epidemic of new coronavirus is still raging in France. This Friday, the Directorate General of Health reports 243 new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours. A total of 26,230 people died from Covid-19 in the country.

In detail, the DGS counts 16,497 deaths in hospitals (+ 111 in 24 hours) and 9,733 in medico-social establishments (+ 132), notably in nursing homes.

Currently, 22,724 patients remain hospitalized in the country due to SARS-CoV-2 infection. In 24 hours, 510 new admissions were recorded.

93 fewer patients in intensive care

In the intensive care units, the recession which started more than three weeks ago continues with 93 fewer patients this Friday, indicates the DGS. But nearly 2,868 patients are still hospitalized in these services reserved for the most serious cases.

Since the start of the epidemic, 95,601 people have been hospitalized. 55,782 people returned home, not counting the tens of thousands of people healed in the city.
