For the start of this second week of deconfinement, the Directorate General of Health identifies this Monday 131 new deaths related to Covid-19. A total of 28,239 deaths since the start of the epidemic in France in early March.
Sunday, the DGS counted 483 new deaths but clarified that it was largely a catch-up after data failures. Last week, several errors of this type had led to some confusion in the evolution of the death toll of coronavirus victims in France.
Less than 2000 resuscitation patients
According to the assessment of the day, less than 2000 patients are now treated in the intensive care units in France.
With "375 new admissions", "1998 patients suffering from a severe form of Covid-19 are hospitalized in intensive care", against 2712 a week ago, specifies the DGS.
In addition, at least 25 new sources of contamination have appeared in France, with in particular the positive screening of 34 employees of a slaughterhouse in Loiret. Slaughterhouses are also singled out in Germany.
The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has killed at least 315,000 people worldwide since the first official cases in December in China, according to an update on Monday but can only be based on partial data from each country. The United States is the most affected country in terms of both death and case numbers, with nearly 90,000 deaths and nearly 1.49 million cases. This is followed by the United Kingdom, Italy, France and Spain.
