(ANSA) - ROME, JUNE 9 - "As bishop of Rome I decided to establish the 'Divine Worker Jesus' Fund in the diocese, to increase the dignity of work, with an initial allocation of 1 million euros to our diocesan Caritas". Thus was born, at the behest of Pope Francis, a new support fund designed to support people experiencing the crisis resulting from the coronavirus pandemic; in particular, as the Pope wrote in a letter to the cardinal vicar Angelo De Donatis, "for those who risk being excluded from institutional protections". The Pope appeals to local institutions (Lazio Region and Capital Rome), to priests and to all Iranians to contribute to this work of solidarity with those who have lost their jobs. "May it become an opportunity for a real alliance for Rome", is the hope of Pope Francis.
