World Chocolate Day is celebrated on 7 July

 - From muffins to ice cream, from the simple tablet to the one with Himalayan salt. The Italians have a passion for chocolate, for which the World Day is celebrated on July 7th, consuming just over 4 kg per head per year.

A 'comfort' food par excellence, given that purchases in lockdown increased by almost 22% compared to the same period of the previous year. A confirmation of what has already been known for a long time, in a country that boasts a long tradition in the artisanal and industrial transformation of this product, where there is no lack of historical brands recognized all over the world. All for a market worth 2.5 billion euros. On the tastes front, the choice of Italians for dark chocolate is always at the top of purchases with over 40% of preferences, followed at a distance by milk; however, white chocolate and the simple bar are losing positions. A market of traditional flavors where innovation finds more and more space, from the product flavored with chilli, orange, rum, mint or, in the versions with Himalayan salt, passing from vegan and organic and of course to that gluten free.
