Doctors, worried about the resurgence of the epidemic in France, recommend a tightening of the restrictions, including the wearing of masks and in class. This Friday, the latest report from the Directorate General of Health (DGS) confirms a slight increase in cases: 2,846 in the last 24 hours, against 2,669 Thursday.

In 24 hours, 18 new deaths were recorded in hospitals. Since the start of the epidemic, 19,901 people have died in a hospital establishment and 10,505 deaths have occurred in social and medico-social establishments, such as nursing homes. In total, the epidemic has killed 30,406 people since the start of March.

Since Thursday, 27 new epidemic centers have been identified. In total, 953 “clusters” have been formed since May 9, but 611 of them have since been “closed”.

"Viral circulation is intensifying in Europe and France"

The number of hospitalized patients is also on the rise. The DGS also indicates that 4,828 people are currently hospitalized after being infected with SARS-CoV-2 and that 173 new admissions have taken place in 24 hours. Among the patients treated, 367 are in the intensive care units. 173 people have been admitted to these services dedicated to the most serious cases in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate is now 2.4%, also up (1.6% during the week of July 27 to August 2).

The DGS informed that two departments (Paris and Bouches-du-Rhône) are now classified as an active circulation zone of the virus. "Viral circulation is intensifying in Europe and France but the fate of the epidemic is in our hands, we can slow it down", commented the DGS.
