The other indicators bear witness to a situation that continues to deteriorate over the days.

While new restrictions will come into force on Saturday in several cities placed on high alert, such as Lille and Lyon, 1,296 epidemic outbreaks are being investigated, or 87 additional “clusters” in the space of 24 hours.

A positivity rate close to 10%

The test positivity rate was 9.8%, against 9.1% the day before.

“It is an increasing rate and a high rate,” Olivier Véran stressed during a press conference.

The Minister of Health also indicated that the current reproduction rate, that is to say the number of people infected by a patient, is currently "estimated at 1.1, 1.2".

In the past 24 hours, 76 patients have succumbed to Covid-19, bringing the total toll to 32,521 the number of victims of the coronavirus in France, including 21,736 in hospital.

At the hospital, the health authorities recorded 4,710 new hospitalizations over the last seven days (+85 compared to Wednesday) due to Covid-19.

Among these patients, 891 were admitted to intensive care.
