(ANSA) - BEIJING, OCTOBER 22 - Following the announcement made by the Holy See, China confirmed the extension of the agreement with the Vatican on the appointment of bishops for a new two-year period.
"On October 22, after friendly consultations, China and the Vatican decided to extend the preliminary agreement for another two years," Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said at a press conference.
The two sides "will remain in close consultation and communication to continuously improve their relations," Zhao added.
