Less than two days after a 13-year-old boy was stabbed in Berlin, a 41-year-old man turned himself in to the police.
The man reported accompanied by a lawyer to the homicide squad, as announced by the prosecution and a police spokesman.
"So far there is no evidence of the cause of the conflict, in particular no evidence of a possible racist motive," said the public prosecutor on Twitter.
The suspect was questioned as a suspect and said he was a Turkish national.
"The investigation is ongoing, further details cannot be published at the moment."
The 13-year-old who was killed belonged to a group of seven, mainly children and adolescents, who were out and about in Berlin-Mitte on Saturday evening around 10:40 p.m.
According to witness reports, there was an argument between the group and a man in a tunnel at Monbijoupark across from Museum Island.
The man is said to have stabbed the boy and a 22-year-old man with a knife.
The 13-year-old from Syria died despite attempts at resuscitation at the scene.
The 22-year-old was taken to the hospital.
The perpetrator fled.
The police were looking for him.
A police spokesman said that "numerous reports" had been received by the morning.
The search was for an approximately 45-year-old man with a "bald head" and a "grayish full beard", the police said on Twitter.
The boy's body was autopsied on Sunday, according to prosecutors.
Results were not published.
On Sunday and Monday there were candles and flowers by the underpass.
