Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammad Ali al-Hakim reaffirmed the need to combat terrorism, find a political solution to the crisis in Syria and respect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
"We affirm that the Golan is Syrian Arab land and we reject the Israeli occupation of it," Hakim said in a speech at the 18th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, stressing the need to abide by UN Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981. Syria is built on fighting terrorism and respecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Al-Hakim pointed out that Iraq from the experience of harsh wars and the targeting of terrorism to its capabilities and threaten its internal security and the extension of its effects on the security of its regional environment and the stability of the international community stresses the need to build international relations on the basis of respect for the sovereignty of States and non-interference in their internal affairs and cooperation to confront terrorism and extremism.
