Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed his country's hope that the commencement of the work of the Constitution Discussion Committee will be a good step on the road to a political solution to the crisis in Syria.

"We all want a fruitful and constructive meeting," Peskov told reporters in Moscow. "We hope this will be a good start for a real political settlement process" for the crisis in Syria.

Earlier in the day, Jennifer Fenton, spokeswoman for the UN special envoy to Syria, Geir Pederson, announced that all 150 members of the constitutional debate committee had arrived in Geneva to start the committee's meetings tomorrow.
