A resolution passed earlier in Europe states that there is evidence that Uighurs and other ethnic Muslims have been "arbitrarily detained, tortured, excessively restricted religious practices, and extensive digital surveillance" in Xinjiang. The rally called for full attention and solidarity with Uighurs.

The rally was held at 3:30 pm, and around 5 pm, someone removed the nearby flag and discarded it on the ground. A few riot police arrived on the scene, during which a man in a black shirt rammed one of the riot police officers. The police officer immediately came forward and arrested and subdued many people. Someone mixed with the police and the scene was chaotic.
