After the preliminary elections in Iowa, it will be up to New Hampshire voters to elect the Democratic nominee for the November presidential election tonight. At the center of attention are Sen. Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Indiana Mayor South Bend Pete Bottige, who finished last week in Iowa, with a small gap in favor of the latter.

Sen. Amy Clocher, who came in third in public opinion polls in this country after the confrontation last week, is aiming to gain momentum for the continuation of primaries, while former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden hopes to avoid further disappointment after finishing only fourth in Iowa. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who came in third, also hopes to stand out.

In order to win the Democratic Party, candidates must win the support of 1,990 delegates out of 3,979. New Hampshire selects 33 delegates, 24 of whom must vote in the party conference according to the results of the primaries. Despite their small number, history has proven almost impossible for a Democrat to be elected as a presidential party candidate without screwing up in the first two places in the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries.

Voters are looking for the right face to face U.S. President Donald Trump, who is aiming to run for a second term in the Nov. 3 election. This time, they hope the process will go more smoothly, following the embarrassment of the technical issues in the counting of votes in Iowa, which resulted in a few days delay in publishing the results. As with the rest of the race, New Hampshire voters will also decide between moderate candidates - Bottage, Clocher and Biden, and progressive left-wing candidates - including Warren and Sanders.

The latest polls give the lead to Sanders, while Bottige and Clobcher get second and third places respectively. In light of the projected loss to Biden, he canceled the primaries event scheduled to take place tonight in New Hampshire and took off for South Carolina.

Supporters of the 38-year-old Buttigej were greeted at the Manchester ballot box before dawn, waving blue and yellow signs saying "Pete 2020" and "President Pete." The candidate reported "feeling good," smiling at reporters who asked him if he expected to end the primaries with such a result.

The 78-year-old Sanders, who represents the neighboring state - Vermont, in the Senate, defeated New Hampshire in previous Democratic primaries, against his rival Hillary Clinton who finally won the 2016 party nomination. While last time he won 60% support, this time none of the candidates are likely to win such a result. Earlier, he addressed an audience of more than 7,500 supporters, most of them young on campus in Durham, saying: "This participation shows me why we're going to win here in New Hampshire, why we're going to win the Democratic nomination and why we're going to defeat the most dangerous president in the history of United States".
