Hubert Böck is in quarantine because of suspected corona. But the SPD district candidate now knows that he is not infected.

Indersdorf - As head of the rescue service in the BRK district association Freising, Hubert Böck has experience in dealing with infection patients. The fact that the SPD district council candidate had to stand "on the other side", that he was the one from whom mouth and nose swabs were taken under the greatest protection, that, according to Böck, was "a new experience".

The reason for the procedure: An employee of the 54-year-old was infected with the Corona virus at Mardi Gras in Freising; because Böck also complained a little later about fever, cough and runny nose, he reported to his family doctor. He immediately ordered a test and - in accordance with the current requirements of the health authorities - a 14-day domestic quarantine.

However, the result of the test is reassuring: Böck was tested negative for the virus, meaning: he did not have the virus. His symptoms turned out to be cold symptoms - common for the season. While waiting for the test result, he and his surroundings were “sitting on coals”. It was all the more relieved that he was healthy.

However, Böck must now stay at home during the quarantine. Campaign events, his work in Freising - all forbidden. Even at home, he has to adhere to rules, such as not getting too close to his family. "I'm sleeping in the guest room now," he admits. He is allowed to take meals at the Böck dining table, but not together with his wife and children. To get fresh air, he "opens the door every now and then".

Fortunately, the 54-year-old is not doomed to inactivity. He can do part of his work from home, in the home office. Correspondence takes place by phone and email. In the municipal election - to which he is running not only as a district council candidate, but also as a municipal council candidate in Indersdorf - he can at least comfortably participate from the couch by postal vote.

The fact that he has to remain in quarantine despite the negative test result is due to the strict Corona protection guidelines. According to this, authorities assume that even if a test was negative, this person can still be the carrier of the virus. Böck will therefore be examined again in a few days before he is released.

Böck is relieved that he missed the last phase of the election campaign. "You can't change that." Something else is important anyway: that his positive employee is doing well and that "all sick people will soon recover". STEFANIE ZIPFER
