Hong Kong today (6th) added 24 confirmed cases of new coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19), with a total of 915 confirmed and suspected cases. The 65 Hong Kong people stranded in Peru arrived in Hong Kong by charter flight yesterday. The Center for Health Protection of the Department of Health announced that a total of 5 people were diagnosed. Three cases were from the same tour group, and the other two involved a free-traveling couple.

The new coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) outbreak occurred before Wuhan, Hubei, and then spread to Asia, Europe and the United States and other countries. The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health announced today (April 6) that there were 24 new confirmed cases. Among them, 18 people had travel records, and 5 of them were returned to Hong Kong from Peru.

The three confirmed cases came from the same Xingchen travel agency Peru 24th tour group. The group had 20 participants and a tour guide. The remaining 18 people (along with the tour guide) were all required to be quarantined in the quarantine center. The other two diagnosed persons involved a free-living couple, the 910th and 911th cases. Zhang Zhujun, director of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Center for Health Protection, Department of Health, believes that the relevant diagnoses have the greatest chance of local infection in Peru, emphasizing that Hong Kong is currently adopting port restriction measures, and the authorities will continue to pay attention.

Zhang Zhujun continued that more than 600 people entered the airport through the airport port during the low peak period recently, and there are still about 1,000 people entering the country every day. Therefore, the testing arrangements at the AsiaWorld-Expo also need to consider reducing the risk of cross infection.
