As-Suwayda-Sana
The Directorate of Agriculture in Sweida estimated the production of winter vegetables for the current season at 5144 tons, an increase of more than 1500 tons over the previous season.
The assistant director of agriculture in Al-Suwaida Eng. Alaa Shuhaib said in a statement to SANA correspondent today that production estimates are good due to the availability of appropriate conditions for the growth of winter vegetables and the increased appetite of farmers to grow them as a result of the good rains that provided them with a part of the watering operations as this agriculture is irrigated by the province by benefiting from wells.
Eng. Shehayb pointed out that the areas planted with winter vegetables for the current season amounted to 3120 dunums, up from the plan of 2520 dunums, indicating that they included beans, peas, cabbage, broccoli, garlic, carrots and onions.
The governorate of As-Suwayda produced 3551 tons of winter vegetables.
