A tragedy occurred at Ying Kwai House in Kwai Chung Village. His mother was arrested after strangling her mentally retarded son!
The incident occurred at 3 o'clock in the morning today (5th). A 46-year-old woman was tied into a rope with a trash plastic bag or rubber tablecloth in her apartment to strangle a 21-year-old who had recently returned home from a home for the mentally disabled. The eldest son, the murderer attempted suicide after killing the son.
Upon receiving the report, the police rushed to the scene and arrested the murderer and sent him to hospital for treatment. The motive for the murder is still being investigated.
It is understood that the deceased had stayed in a boarding home for the mentally handicapped before he was alive, and recently returned to the unit at Ying Kwai House in Kwai Chung Village to live with his family. The family is applying for other homes and asked the district councillor for help for trivial matters.
This morning, the unit where the incident occurred was still locked down, and a large number of detectives came to investigate.

Kwai Tsing Police District Assistant Commander (Criminal) Lam Chi-yuen said that at about 3 am today (5th), the police received a report stating that a unit in Ying Kwai House, Kwai Chung Village, had fainted.
Ambulancemen arrived at the scene and found that a young man in the unit had died. The police classified the case as murder and attempted suicide.
The 21-year-old deceased in the case was murdered by his 46-year-old mother. It is preliminarily believed that the assailant used trash plastic bags or rubber tablecloths to tie up into a rope-like body, and then strangled his son.

At the time of the incident, all five members of the family were in the house, including the deceased, the mother suspected of murder, the deceased’s father, and a pair of 13-year-old siblings.
Lin Zhiyuan continued that a small amount of blood was found in the unit. It is believed that her mother tried to commit suicide after killing her son. She injured her hands and was sent to hospital after being arrested.
According to police investigations, the deceased was a mentally handicapped person who recently returned home from the institution, while the arrested mother was a housewife, mainly responsible for taking care of his family.
The police clarified that there is no evidence to show that the deceased was stunned by medication during his lifetime, but they will investigate whether any family members witnessed the incident at the time of the incident.
In addition, the mother’s motive for the murder remains to be investigated. It is known that the family involved has no record of domestic violence.
Kwai Tsing District Councillor Leung Kam-wai said that about a year ago, the unit responsible for the incident had asked the Councillor's office for help on trivial matters, but it did not involve domestic violence, financial issues, and caring for people with intellectual disabilities.
In the early hours of the morning, Leung Kam-wai went to the scene to learn about the incident, but was unable to contact the head of the household. He has contacted the Social Welfare Department and expressed concern about the safety of a 13-year-old fetus. The Social Welfare Department will arrange for social workers to follow up the incident.
