Capturing CO2 in British factory chimneys and burying it in the geological depths of the North Sea.
This is the project led by BP off the east coast of England, supported for this by the electrician National Grid and the European tankers Equinor, Royal Dutch Shell, Eni, and Total.
These six groups announced Monday the creation of a new partnership, the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP), which aims to decarbonize the British industrial heart.
The project should come into operation in 2026.

Carbon capture, which prevents CO2 from diffusing into the atmosphere, is considered by many to be essential for achieving carbon neutrality.

The IEA lists around thirty commercial capture projects around the world.
