The construction of public toilets at Walchensee was an essential requirement of the demonstration, with which citizens of the Kochler district reacted to the mass influx of day trippers last year.

After the protests, the desire for a toilet facility has long since found its way into the so-called Walchensee concept.

Kochel am See - In its most recent meeting, the Kochler municipal council decided to initiate a corresponding building application.

The public toilet house is to be built on Seestrasse, in the immediate vicinity of the entrance to the parking lot there - a location that is actually outside.

However, the municipality expects the highest flow of visitors here.

In addition, the toilet facility at this location is easily accessible from the bathing area.

Since the facility is also intended to protect the environment from contamination, the district office would be able to approve the location in the event of an application, according to the municipality.

Construction of an underground tank is recommended

Because of the proximity to the lake and the decentralized waste water disposal in Walchensee, the Weilheim Water Management Office also recommends that the municipality build an underground tank and then have the waste water regularly removed and disposed of by a specialist company, explained Mayor Thomas Holz.

At least three cabins are planned, one of which is handicapped accessible.

In addition, at least two urinals are provided.

The facade should match the townscape.

The councils also wanted a high standard of hygiene and easy cleaning of the system as well as good protection against vandalism.

Toilet costs 150,000 euros

Cautious estimates of the costs for the toilet system assume around 150,000 euros, which should be included in the budget for 2021.

According to Nicole Lutterer of the municipality, a concrete start of construction has not yet been determined.

The land negotiations were still ongoing.
