The lockdown light does not come into force until Monday.

However, the Tegernsee Schliersee Alpine region is already making an appeal to all day-trippers: they should rethink their leisure planning for the weekend.

  • Last Sunday, a wave of day-trippers rolled over the Miesbach district

  • In view of the serious Corona situation, the ATS is now appealing to the common sense of the people

  • "Reflect on plans and question the goal of the next tour"

Tegernsee

- The impressions from last Sunday are still fresh: In top autumn weather, the relevant excursion regions - including the Miesbach district and the Tegernsee valley - were once again overrun by a wave of excursionists.

"That was definitely the peak day of the year", confirms Harald Gmeiner, board member of the municipal company Alpenregion Tegernsee Schliersee (ATS).

The mountain railways and huts were stormed, the streets were tight.

"Forming groups on the mountain" and "kilometers of traffic jams" are not appropriate according to ATS

Because many hours of sunshine can be expected again this weekend, the tourism experts have reacted.

In its online live ticker, which usually contains tips for excursions and is intended to direct the flow of visitors in the district, the ATS sends a clear message with a view to this weekend: In view of the serious situation, everyone should ask themselves “whether one is fighting against Corona cannot do without his leisure time to a certain extent ”.

It also says: "Long journeys from other communities, group formation on the mountain, kissing everyone at the summit cross, queuing in front of the to-go café or kilometer-long traffic jams just don't fit in with the times." to reflect on their plans and to question the set goal of the next tour again.

Even at the beginning of the Corona crisis, the topic of the "Rush of excursionists at Tegernsee" made headlines.

Although the lockdown light will officially only apply from the beginning of next week (November 2nd), the ATS has already wanted to send this message, says Gmeiner.

“The situation is no different today than it was on Monday.” The ATS board is aware that one cannot reach one hundred percent of the day trippers and mountain lovers with such an appeal.

"With some you fall on deaf ears." Nevertheless, Gmeiner believes that the majority of the people heed the message sent by Chancellor Merkel and Prime Minister Söder and "act responsibly".

He doesn't think the rush this weekend will be as violent as it was last Sunday.

Tourism professionals want to continue "to communicate in this direction"

One cannot forbid the excursions, emphasizes Gmeiner.

The government's new regulation also only mentions “should”: citizens are expressly asked to refrain from day trips.

"That is why we only have the way to appeal to reason," explains Gmeiner.

In the next four weeks, ATS will continue to “communicate in this direction” on its platforms, announced the board of directors.
