As a continuation of its efforts to market citrus fruits and reduce costs for farmers, the Syrian Trade Establishment’s branch in Lattakia is running today a convoy of 11 trucks of citruses to the corporation’s markets, halls and sales outlets in the governorates of Damascus, Rural Damascus, Homs, Aleppo and Sweida after the material is extracted from farmers’s fields and packed in the institution’s sorting and packaging center .

The Director General of the Foundation, Ahmed Negm, confirmed in a statement to SANA's correspondent that this convoy comes within the framework of the government’s approach and the marketing plan to support farmers, provide them with optimal service and reduce costs for them, indicating that the 11 truck convoy is loaded with 107 tons of various citrus fruits.

He pointed out that the corporation seeks to market the largest possible quantity of citrus fruits at good and acceptable prices for farmers as part of its positive intervention procedures in the market, explaining that the corporation markets these quantities either to the corporation's wholesale center in the Al-Hal market in Damascus or the sales outlets of the corporation's halls and branches in the governorates.

For his part, the director of the branch, Shadi Dallah, pointed out that the branch continues to import citrus fruits from farmers directly from the farm land in addition to circulating the branch administration numbers to facilitate communication with farmers for this purpose and from the various regions of the governorate, stressing that the corporation sourcing the material at reasonable prices according to the variety and type and is keen to reduce costs on Farmers from packages, transportation fees, etc.

He pointed out that the branch provides boxes for packing citrus fruits and cars, which saves farmers big costs, including the commission in the cardamom market, and contributes to breaking commercial mediation circles, as well as securing the material in the markets at reduced prices due to the small profit margin the corporation gets.
