The Unterhaching municipal council gave its approval for the 2021 annual grants to local institutions, especially for the music school (817,000 euros) and the VHS (410,000 euros).
With a vote against: Armin Konetschny (Greens) raised his forefinger to warn: “I don't agree.” He also explained the reasons for this.

"We are approaching a financial smoke screen and would do well to take our foot off the gas, because we don't know what's behind it: a wall or a street?"
Of course, Armin Konetschny is aware of the services the associations have made to the common good, "they are the glue of society".
But especially about music schools and adult education centers, he suggested: “Why not only release two thirds of the funds in this time of crisis?
Perhaps that would be a suggestion for increasing efficiency, for example with premises. "
Don't ruin Unterhaching
Armin Konetschny promptly received a sharp counterattack from the CSU, which had previously been voting side by side with the Greens for months.
"If we start to break down Unterhaching, you have to think twice about whether this is the solution to the crisis or its accelerator," said Korbinian Rausch, the leader of the CSU parliamentary group.
His credo: “Institutions need planning security.” It is important “not to harm the Unterhaching educational landscape”.
Mayor Wolfgang Panzer (SPD) sighed: “I am already looking forward to the budget debates in 2021.” As a pragmatist, however, he pointed out that he thinks “factually”, and that applies particularly to the high amounts of funding at music schools and VHS.
"Of course, our treasurer makes sure that these funds are counter-financed," said Wolfgang Panzer.
Foretaste of the budget debate
But the mayor took up the basic idea of Armin Konetschny.
“How do we deal with construction projects?
That's where the music plays ”, calculated Wolfgang Panzer.
Or the club landscape, whether in sport or otherwise: “Corona has caused our clubs to lose a number of contributors.
As an example, the town hall chief named TSV Unterhaching, which was "massively affected" because the sports club had to pay hall rent, but the sports facilities could not currently use the corona restrictions, which led to a decline in membership and thus lead to loss of income.
It is therefore the task of local politics to take into account the needs of the clubs in the budget discussions in 2021.
The debate in the local council gave a foretaste of that.
