COVID-19 vaccine applications began in the state of New Jersey and emergency nurse Maritza Beníquez was the first person in the state to receive it.
Beníquez says he would like to show that the vaccine is safe and that the Hispanic community should not be afraid to get it.
María Santana spoke with her after the application, and the nurse was clear: For me, having this vaccine is like saying "you won the lottery";
I feel more relieved that I don't have to be with that concern, she said.
