Entering 2021, a strong cold wave hits Hong Kong, ushering in a cold New Year's Day, but many Hong Kong people are not afraid of the violent cold wind, climb to the top of Victoria Peak, appreciate the first morning sun, and welcome the new year.
On January 1, 2021, the sunrise time in Hong Kong was 7:03 in the morning. A reporter from "Hong Kong 01" arrived at Lugard Road at the top of the mountain at 4 a.m. and found that more than 20 citizens were waiting for the sunrise to arrive. Some people went up the mountain, and the number gradually increased to nearly a hundred, most of whom were photographers, who had set up cameras and tripods to capture the sunrise; there were also couples who braved the cold wind to enjoy the morning sun.
Reporters will hit the "first line of morning light" on Luigi Road.
According to the Observatory’s website, the temperature at the top of the mountain at 6:10 am was 5.4 degrees.
Some citizens went to the mountains to wait for the sunrise. Because of the cold weather, many people prepared the three treasures of cold protection, including hats, neck scarves and cold-proof clothing. Some people prepared warm packs and hot water to prepare for the sunrise.
