Members of the "

Proud Boys

", a group founded by a Canadian who has since disassociated themselves from it, were among the supporters of Donald Trump who stormed the Capitol in Washington on January 6.

The day before, the leader of this American militia, Enrique Tarrio, had been arrested for similar acts during a demonstration which had degenerated in December.

Several people had been stabbed and dozens more arrested.

In Canada, five members of the Royal Canadian Navy group were called to order for disrupting an Indigenous ceremony in Halifax, Nova Scotia (southeast) in 2017. Dozens of organizations are banned in Canada, including Al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, the Taliban or the Islamic State group.
