Seefeld - A 24-year-old farmer from the district was busy mowing his meadow near Seefeld when his tractor suddenly began to smoke; on the tractor was his heavily pregnant wife.
The young farmer first got his wife off the tractor and then tried to remove the expensive mounted mowers, but failed. An attempt to extinguish the fire with a hand extinguisher against the flames now coming out from under the driver's cab was also unsuccessful. The fire spread rapidly, so that the tractor was on fire within minutes and burned out completely despite the fire brigade from Seefeld that was quickly on site. The fire could be seen from afar due to clouds of black smoke.
The tractor was a total loss of a good 130,000 euros, and the extent to which the attached mowers worth around 100,000 euros were damaged has yet to be examined. No one was injured in the fire.
The cause of the fire is assumed to be a technical defect.
