Both players and coaches know that. Why Sebastian Stangl was also satisfied with his team's 2-2 draw at 1. FC Passau was due to the course of the game and the external circumstances.
Eintracht traveled five points ahead of Hallbergmoos to Passau. "It is clear that every opponent will try to beat the championship leader," said Stangl before the game. "We have to take action. The attitude and mental strength will be very important. ”The game in Passau should be a big touchstone. It was not held in the stadium, but on a narrow artificial turf pitch. It quickly became clear that the well-kept ball that the Karlsfeld wanted to play was not possible in the narrow space.
Karlsfeld was behind early
The Passau knew what to do. They played long forward and tried to take the second balls. The spectators, who like hard-fought duels, got their money's worth - the rest not. “It felt like there was an interruption every 15 seconds because of a foul or because the ball was out. It wasn't nice, ”said Stangl.
From the second minute, the Karlsfeld ran behind. After a free kick, the guests cleared too short and Johannes Woyke scored. The Karlsfeld offensive department around Andre Gasteiger, Fitim Raqi, Michael Dietl, Martin Schön and Kubilay Celik then had a hard time letting the ball go. Schön had the only good Eintracht chance in halftime in the 36th minute, but FC goalkeeper Stefan Schulz held up well.
The 2-0 fell shortly before the break
Shortly before the break it got even thicker for the leader. After a ball loss in the game structure, a Passauer pulled away, Eintracht goalkeeper Dominik Krüger clapped and Elias Hönig pushed in for 2: 0 for Passau (45.).
During the break, Eintracht coaches Stangl and Jochen Jaschke had time for a major system fix. "We wanted to put more pressure on the front third of the game," said Stangl. He had to replace Schön because he had been hit in the ear. Winter access Pascal Sattelberger came on the field for the second 45 minutes.
Joker Sattelberger scored to equalize
Eintracht was much better in the game after the restart and more and more often managed to pose problems for the Passau defensive. In the 57th minute, the guests came back into the game because Dominik Pöhlmann hit after a corner from close range. The Karlsfeld accepted the harshness, worked out further chances and equalized in the 75th minute by Joker Sattelberger. The midfielder scored after a pass from Gasteiger worth seeing from the penalty area. "We knew that he had a very good shooting technique, he hit it perfectly," Stangl was amazed.
After that it got even rougher. Passaus Noah Aklassou saw the traffic light card in the 82nd minute. Nothing happened in front of the two goals, so it remained at 2-2. The Karlsfeld could live with the point. "We accepted the fight and proved that we can't just come through play," said Stangl. "We are therefore happy about the point, which can be very valuable," continued the Eintracht coach.
