Coronavirus pandemic obliges, the ski season ended in haste and the Easter holidays which are looming will not, for many, be the occasion of a last glide in the mountains. For some skiers who have had the misfortune of injuring themselves on the slopes in recent weeks, the time has come for rehabilitation anyway. But with the confinement imposed in the country, the sessions with the physiotherapists had to be canceled.
To cope with the patients' concern, a team of Lyon surgeons, including Jean-Marie Fayard, who operates athletes from the French Ski Federation, have created an application that allows postoperative rehabilitation follow-up anterior cruciate ligament of the knee, a very common injury in all board sports.
Video tutorials to do the exercises
With Doct'up, the patient who has undergone an operation can, from home, continue the exercises with follow-up developed by experienced physiotherapists. Using video tutorials, the skier goes through the different levels of work, measures his progress and achieves his goals by recording his performance.
During a health crisis, the team decided to make a code available to all those who would like to test this application (available on the App Store and Google Play). The team is currently working on expanding services and deploying rehabilitation protocols for other joints (shoulder, foot, hip, etc.) after surgery and after trauma (when there is no operation). An evolution that will be available in a few weeks.
