A Bayern league start without a spectator? Hard to imagine. But according to Norbert Ortner from TSV Peißenberg bitter reality. But colleagues of his see it differently.

District - "The Bayern League wants to start the season without spectators." With this statement, department head Norbert Ortner caused a stir at the annual meeting of the Peißenberg "ice hackers" on Tuesday evening. “A few weeks ago all 15 clubs said 'there are no ghost games'. And at the last video conference there were suddenly 14 in favor and only Peißenberg against, ”reported Ortner. "I'm curious to see how many clubs survive," said the Peissenberger.

With his interpretation of things, however, Ortner is alone. "The association only asked for which clubs it is possible to hold preparatory games without spectators," says Martin Resch, team manager at EA Schongau. Because according to the current status, test matches are allowed, but like in football only without spectators. Resch confirms that TSV Peißenberg was the only club to speak out against it. However, according to the EAS team manager, it was not a vote, just a survey.

Ice cream in the Schongau Stadium from mid-September

"No Bayern league team can manage a season without spectators," says the Schongauer. At the moment, the clubs have no choice but to wait and hope. "I am assuming that nothing will change by the end of the holidays," says Resch. The Schongauers, who have strengthened themselves with Roman Tomanek, are in any case prepared for a possible start to the season in October. "We have created a hygiene concept with a different audience capacity depending on the pandemic level," explains Resch. The ice in the “Mammoths” stadium is to be prepared from mid-September.
