Champions League: a gold mine for Bayern Munich

115.69 million euros: FC Bayern would actually get that much bonus money if they won the final against Paris. Because of Corona there are probably fewer - but the premier class remains extremely lucrative.

Getting into the finals at the Champions League tournament in Lisbon is also of great financial importance for FC Bayern Munich in the middle of the Corona crisis. With the income from the final on this Sunday against Paris Saint-Germain, the German football club with the highest turnover could exceed the 100 million euro mark in the premier class or at least come close.

Uefa will probably only decide after the final tournament whether the bonuses for reaching the last knockout rounds can be paid out in full despite the reduction from five to just three games. Europe's umbrella organization also generates less money.

In normal seasons, the final victory alone is rewarded with 19 million euros from the Uefa prize pot. The final loser can comfort himself with 15 million. Without Corona discounts, the UEFA payments to FC Bayern would add up to 115.69 million in the case of a title win, according to the information provided before the start of the season.

Before the Corona compulsory freeze in March, Bayern had earned almost 41 million euros from entry fees, game bonuses and making it to the round of 16. This Uefa money has already flowed. In addition, there would now be 22.5 million euros for quarter and semi-finals, which in the tournament form were not played with a return leg.

It is unclear how Uefa will deal with the distribution of the coefficient pot. For this, Bayern, who have been very successful in the Champions League for years, are normally entitled to 33.24 million euros.

Further payments from the market pool are also open in the amount. The German champions have certainly lost the viewer income from three home games from the round of 16. The second leg against Chelsea had already taken place in Munich as a ghost game. In Lisbon you also have to play in front of empty stands.
