A few years ago, Lautro Caracino seemed to the people of San Lorenzo like the next big thing.
At the age of 17, after being the second-highest scorer in the history of the youth department, the Argentine talent was promoted to the senior squad to train alongside the squad that won the Libertadores Cup in 2014.
The coaches enthusiastically compared him to Carlos Tevez and the management were convinced that they could make a buck on him in the future, but Caracino did not know how to get out of trouble.
Instead of being in the spotlight, he found himself behind bars and last Tuesday was charged with murder and leading a drug gang.

Lautro Caracino
The 23-year-old striker's first entanglement was as early as 2012, when he was suspected of involvement in the robbery and murder of another boy.
No indictment was eventually filed against him and he was rescued, with San Lorenzo continuing to give him a back, but in 2018 he decided to break free from the club and embark on a new path with the card in his hand.
He signed with Almagro from the second division and made four appearances, but his head was no longer in football.
About a month ago, a 20-year-old woman was shot dead and a 30-year-old man who was her partner was seriously injured in the Ciudad Evita neighborhood.
Caracino's name was linked to the incident, and it turned out that he had been part of a battle between drug gangs and wanted since January - not by groups in Europe but by the police for drug trafficking.
Several other gangs gave him shelter during the escape months, until he thought it was safe enough to return to his neighborhood.
On Tuesday he still tried to escape, but was caught after 150 meters and placed in custody after almost 10 months as a fugitive.
He will now have to face charges of aggravated murder, armed robbery and threats.
It can also end in life imprisonment.
