Euro NCAP: The safest cars in 2019
Editing: Nir ChenEuro NCAP crash tests that have become the safety standard of the European automotive industry, and are being prepared for new and widely used models that are also being marketed to us, give each tested car a series of percentages as well as a final star rating. Every once in a while, with the improvement in the safety level of the cars, or better yet - the improvements made by the manufacturers to meet the organization's requirements - the criteria change and new requirements are added to the list.
Because the "value" rating varies, this is why the organization publishes the list of outstanding cars each year with the highest scores in the three main sections: adult protection, child protection, pedestrian protection and advanced safety systems.
55 cars were tested during 2019, of which 41 were awarded 5 crushing stars - this is one of the years with the highest amount of excellence since the organization began testing cars. But even within those 41 cars, some excelled with a particularly high weighting. These are the cars by category.

Super mini
In the Super Mini group there are equivalents, the two cars that achieved the highest score are the Audi A1 and the new Renault Cleo. Cleo has another link in the chain of high safety scores that she also won in her previous generations.
The second place car is the new Ford Puma. That in the current generation is not the coupe car that bore this name in the past, and in fact is not exactly super sexual but a crossover small size. Unlike the two cars in the first places, the Puma does not market in Israel.
Mercedes CLA

Compact family
In the compact family group, the Mercedes CLA, the four-door coupe version of the A Class has the highest score. That A Class by the way, was also on last year's list of excellence. The CLA has scored over 90 percent in three of the four scores, 96 percent in driver protection, 91 percent in child protection, 91 percent in pedestrian protection, and 75 percent in advanced safety systems. These scores also make it the higher overall score in the current crushing season.
By the way of Mercedes, the manufacturer has 5 other models that have won five crushing stars this year (GLB, EQC, GLE, B Class and the new G Class).
Second place came the new Mazda 3 (98 percent in driver protection, 87 percent in child protection, 81 percent in pedestrian protection, and 73 percent in safety systems).

Family
The third representative from Germany with excellence this year is the new BMW Series 3. Alongside her in first place with the same weighted score is the Tesla Model 3, the electric car maker puts another representative in excellence this year.
As mentioned, both cars received the same weighted score, with the Series 3 being higher in pedestrian protection, while Tesla had a higher score for safety systems.
Second in this group is the new Skoda Octavia, which received 92 percent in driver protection, 88 percent in child protection, 73 percent in pedestrian protection and 70 percent in safety systems.
Subaru Forester

Jeeps and crossovers
In this category, the current Subaru Forester, it turns out to be impressive not only in the road test we conducted, but also in the crash tests. 97 percent in driver protection score, 91 percent in child protection, 80 percent in pedestrian protection, and 78 percent in safety systems.
Second place is shared by two vehicles, which are also marketed to us, these are the new Mazda CX-30 and Volkswagen T Cross.
Tesla Model X

Great jeeps and crossovers
As mentioned, Tesla is very much on the list, with the entry of two models to the excellence list, this time with the Model X. The big seven-seat crossover. The Model X received 98 percent driver protection, one of the highest scores we have seen recently, 81 percent child protection, 72 percent pedestrian protection, and once again an exceptional score of 94 percent for safety systems.
The second place in this category is SeaTraco, which is not currently marketed in Israel.
And there were those too
Alongside one of the more positive years in the number of 5-star vehicles, in 2019 there were also five cars that received a three-star safety rating. It's not just two stars under five, it's more or less a failure to protect passengers or pedestrians.
Three of the five are actually the same car, the Tri Seat Mii, Volkswagen Up and Skoda Citigo, the fourth car is a Jeep Renegade, which continues a tradition of very low crushing scores for the manufacturer and the fifth car is the Aiways U5 Chinese Electric Crossover marketed in Europe.
