DJI Mavic Air 2. The world's largest skate maker DJI announced on Tuesday the release of the DJI Mavic Air 2. This is the evolution of Mavic Air, the sophisticated folding skimmer designed to make the field accessible to non-professional airmen as well.
The Illustrator 2 introduces technological innovations alongside enhanced photo capabilities, and a much longer flight time due to an upgraded battery. DJI's representative in Israel, Banda Magnetics, will present it in the coming days, and then it will know when marketing will start in the country and how much it will cost to the Israeli consumer.
"Mavic Air 2 is another milestone for DJI," said company president Roger Lou. "We had to completely rethink its design and development process. Our goal was to create a skimmer that would offer the best overall experience possible, even for beginners. ".
The Eyer 2's shooting capabilities have been significantly upgraded: thanks to a new camera, it shoots K4 video at 60 frames per second - double from the first Maverick Air. Image resolution in photography increased from 12 MP Bayer to 48 MP Bayer 2. New hardware also improves image contrast under strong or weak lighting conditions.
The Air 2 flight time was significantly longer than 34 minutes instead of 21 minutes in the first Air (under optimal conditions, without wind). This is because illustrator 2 has a smart battery with a capacity of 3500 mAh, instead of 2375 mAh in the first illustrator. The larger battery slightly increases the weight of the Air 2, but performance remains nearly the same, with a maximum speed of 68 mph. The remote control battery has also been upgraded, providing 240 minutes of work time.
Another system that has been upgraded - and especially important to the novice aircraft - is the sensor damage prevention system, which prevents the hover from crashing into trees, buildings and columns. The sensors in the Pollen Air 2 are more accurately calibrated, in all directions of flight of the skimmer.
Due to regulatory regulations of the Ministry of Communications and Security Forces, aircraft with a frequency of 5.7 GHz radio frequency cannot be flown in Israel, so this model with a maximum (on paper) range of 10 kilometers will not reach the country. We will get the model at a frequency of GHz 2.4, which "on paper" should support up to 6 miles. In the test we conducted for the first Mavic Air in the country with a declared range of 4 miles, we found that its effective range of control in an open urban area is about a mile. In a completely open area with no buildings or magnetic interference (Judean Desert), it was possible to reach a distance of about 3 kilometers. Therefore, it is possible to assume cautiously that the range of the Air 2 will increase up to 2 kilometers in open urban area.
