After confessing to the murder of his wife, a teacher found dead near Narbonne (Aude), her husband was indicted for "aggravated murder" and placed in pre-trial detention.

"In accordance with the requisitions of the prosecution, he was indicted on the count of aggravated murder, because committed on a spouse, and placed in pre-trial detention", explained prosecutor Marie-Agnès Joly.

During his custody, Billy Kruger explained to the examining magistrate that he was seeking "to defend himself" when he stabbed his wife, the prosecutor said.

Arrested at the airport

The victim, Laure Kruger, was discovered dead on Friday in a rainwater outlet in Peyriac-de-Mer, a village south of Narbonne where they used to spend a few weeks a year. The father of the victim worried not to see his daughter, who was to visit him, called the town hall of Peyriac-de-Mer.
