Ground of Reality: The joy of the normalization agreement had to face life itself

The cameras that delivered the celebratory signing ceremony in Washington shook non-stop, as if illustrating the gap between the image and reality.

On the screen is a new Middle East, full of prosperity and hope.

In the house the corona is spreading rapidly, a perforated closure is announced, the arrays are collapsing and chaotic instructions are changing daily from end to end.

The ground is shaking underfoot, in Israel as well as in the United States, and the camera feels it well even when selling confidence.

Nevertheless, relations with Arab countries do not come to the surface every day, and there is no reason to underestimate this.

Accordingly, the main channels wore a holiday, but it was a celebration full of uncertainty: what is really included in the agreements?

What did Israel promise and what did it receive?

Who knew at that moment.

In the meantime, at the same time, but as in a parallel universe, Israel also did not yet know whether to hold classes this morning or not.

In the absence of transparency or accountability of decision makers, instead of information to the public - the news yesterday dealt more with the atmosphere.

And this, it turns out, was especially gratifying.

No one had previously imagined that the ultimate representative of the euphoria of peace and the sense of opening borders and checkpoints, would be none other than Dana Weiss.

News 12's political correspondent tried at all costs to reach a victory picture, marginal as it may be, in what was expressed in a particularly futile attempt to force a colleague from the Emirates to stop a live report to demonstrate some forced fraternity.

One could - just, throw in a random suggestion - try to coordinate it a moment before going on the air.

Instead, in a perhaps unprecedented display of niggles on local news, for almost a minute she tried to pressure the reporter from Abu Dhabi to accept the offer while broadcasting, even though he seemed to prefer to bury himself alive under the lawn.

To dispel some more collegiality, Weiss later also broke into Gili Cohen's 11 interview with businessman Haim Saban, one of the best men in the agreement, while explaining it in "Shalom" between the channels.

The embarrassment has no end, the festival has and has.

And here, an act of Satan, amid all the declarations of peace in the Middle East, a different kind of message took over the screen.

The picture of the day was not the historic signing, but the sequence of warnings that invaded the celebratory speeches, announcing two shrapnel wounded after another barrage to the south.

The dream that Trump and Netanyahu sold was again scratched and tarnished.

Again life itself declared their presence.

Inside the festival also came, surprisingly, a truly extraordinary picture: a special meeting between news presenters from the three countries in both languages, broadcast worldwide.

In contrast to the engineered photos from Washington, News 12 tried to illustrate how warming relations with Bahrain and the Emirates could look like.

In the end, the moving picture - really - amounted to nothing more than a short gimmick and an uninteresting conversation, a pale illustration of that dream.

Immediately afterwards, Yonit Levy moved to a report by Gilad Shlamor from Sderot, which opened with the words: "And back to reality."

And it was painful.

Indeed, in a particularly bleak way, the most relevant topical content on the historic evening was in general educational here, where an episode of "Sorry for the Question" was rebroadcast with the children of the Gaza Envelope.

The name of the camera does not shake, but the heart does.
