SURVEY - Pessimism seems even stronger among hospital staff, according to the quarterly survey of the Health Observatory.

The quarterly survey of the Health Observatory conducted by Odoxa and MNH for

Le Figaro

and Franceinfo, for which nearly 6,000 people were interviewed, paints a very dark picture of the perception of the resumption of the Covid epidemic in France.

More than three quarters of French people say they are worried about the overall health situation of the country (77%) as well as the health of their relatives (74%).

However, they are less likely to fear for their own health (57%).

Pessimism seems even stronger among hospital staff, 84% of whom are worried about the country's health situation.

A fear probably reinforced by the ordeal they experienced in the spring during the first wave of the epidemic in our country.

Unsurprisingly, students, less at risk of developing severe forms, are less likely than other categories to worry about their own health (43%).

Covid-19: the French worried about the country's health situation

As in the previous survey, carried out in April in full confinement, the French almost unanimously trust health actors: 92% for doctors and 96% for nurses.

On the other hand, the confidence rating of the Ministry of Health is much lower (46%), even though it has risen by 10 points since April.

Only 33% of hospital staff say they trust their supervisory ministry ...

But if the French are very much in favor of caregivers, on the other hand they have the feeling that the health system is on the verge of rupture, even if 83% of them believe that the hospital system has done well in the face of the health crisis.

“While for 2 in 3 French people (63%), the future of healthcare establishments is a major social issue for the future, 8 out of 10 French people and 9 out of 10 caregivers feel that the French public hospital is in danger and believe that the quality of care they provide will deteriorate in the future, ”

remarks Gaël Sliman, President of Odoxa.

This is reflected in the fact that 82% of those polled think that the human, financial and material resources currently available to public hospitals are insufficient.

A sign of a feeling of deterioration in the resources allocated to the hospital, 64% of retirees believe that the situation was better when they were still working.
