A centenary Bugatti literally won the "La Dolce Vita" elegance contest for historic cars, organized in honor of the centenary of Federico Fellini's birth from the Santa Marinella Historic Circuit and which took place last weekend.
The "Best in Show" award went to a rare 1920 T13, driven by Franco Majno: a car that launched the French brand in the world of motorsport a century ago and which today appears almost touching in its archaic simplicity. .
The Trophy was organized not only to celebrate Fellini but also to enhance the cultural heritage of the region that stretches from the Castle of Santa Severa, adjacent to Santa Marinella, to the Orsini Odescalchi Castle in Bracciano, on whose streets the famous scenes of the film "Il sorpasso" with Vittorio Gassman driving his Aurelia B24 spider (a similar model took part in the elegance competition).
About forty cars that animated the event and the votes in which the local public also participated.
Among the cars awarded in the respective categories a Jaguar SS 100, a Balilla Coppa d'Oro from 1936, a Cisitalia 202.
The Concours d'Elegance at this time have transformed a bit into the new frontier of historic motoring: on this occasion we saw many "boats", that is the open sports cars (hence the name) which they represented between 1927 and 1957 the backbone of speed in road races, especially the 1000 Miglia.
Very rare sports cars such as Ermini, Stanguellini, Bandini, Taraschi, Osca were present in the competition.
For the fourth consecutive year the event was held in support of the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital, with the support of the new social campaign "Embrace research": a project to support scientific research on the possible consequences of Covid on newborns and and for the implementation of essential medical technologies and equipment.
