Vosges mountains: at least one wanted after a snowfall

Friday the prefect of Haut-Rhin advised "to the population wishing to go to the massifs to take all the necessary precautions.


Shortly before this weekend, the authorities had called for caution people likely to go to the Vosges after the heavy snowfall of the last few days, warning against "the strong risk this weekend [...] of flows of snow and avalanches on the steep slopes of the Vosges mountains ”.

This Sunday, a snowfall in the Vosges mountains was indeed able to take away "one or two people", announced the Haut-Rhin firefighters.

They began research with the gendarmes this Sunday afternoon in order to find these possible victims.

"The emergency services are looking for one or two people"

This flow took place in the middle of the afternoon at Hohneck, a summit of the Vosges located in the Haut-Rhin and which rises to just over 1300 meters.

“The emergency services are looking for one or two people,” the firefighters said in a message, indicating that they were engaged alongside the Haut-Rhin mountain gendarmerie (PGM) platoon, based in Hohrod.

"This weekend, the prefect of Haut-Rhin advises the population wishing to go to the massifs to take all the necessary precautions and be careful not to venture into areas unsuitable for their safety", had intimated on the networks social prefecture on Friday.
