Milestone reached for the new 100% electric Ford Explorer, which with Lexie Alford set a new record by reaching, after 30,000 km, the final stage of 'Charge Around The Globe', the first completely electric trip around the world.
To celebrate the arrival in Nice, there will also be a procession made up of some of the most famous Ford models.
Precisely on the occasion of the success of this particular test drive around the world, Ford announced the launch of the new 100% electric Explorer in Europe.
It is now possible to order the new Explorer, with prices starting from 41,500 euros.
Ford also revealed the features of the new Ford Explorer range, which boasts a range of over 600 km on a single charge and is capable of recharging from 10 to 80% in 26 minutes with DC charging stations.

"Ford - explained Jim Farley, CEO of Ford, present at the celebration - wants to bring passion and emotion to electric vehicles in Europe, there are already enough boring models out there. The new Explorer, however, represents the incredible character of Ford, expressed in every car in this fantastic parade. We are proud to launch this electric car, developed for the streets and people of Europe, which is evidently capable of reaching every destination, in every corner of the world."
The record-breaking feat took Lexie and the Explorer across over 30,000 km, across 6 continents and 27 countries, traveling on electric power alone.
Amidst challenges such as power outages in Africa, the complex search for infrastructure in the Atacama Desert in Chile, as well as dirt roads, high altitude passes and driving in freezing temperatures, the Ford SUV made it all the way to Nice.
Lexie accomplished this incredible feat with a pre-production version of the Ford Explorer and took advantage of all sorts of charging solutions, from simple 2.2 kW AC wall sockets to powerful DC rapid chargers.
"During this truly epic adventure - said Lexie - I met incredible people in every corner of the world and visited wonderful places. And there was no shortage of challenges, some truly unique. For me it was an honor to have been chosen by Ford to face an adventure of this magnitude aboard the Explorer, which has felt like a home for the last six months. I set out with the aim of demonstrating what is really possible with an electric vehicle, and I'm proud to have succeeded" .
