“It was a real nightmare, a horror film.” More than ten days after the murder of her husband, Cédric Coutouly, stabbed to death in the parking lot of a supermarket near Rodez (Aveyron), his wife Virginie testifies in La Dépêche du Midi.

She looks back at what happened this Saturday March 16 at the end of the afternoon. The couple and their 13-year-old son go shopping at the Super U in Onet-le-Château in Aveyron. After making their purchases, they see the driver of a white van traveling at high speed, swerving more and more. A first pedestrian tries to stop the driver and is attacked.

Cédric and his wife try to intervene by suggesting that the victim call the police. It is then that they are in turn attacked by the driver. “I will always remember his dark and Machiavellian look when he looks at us when returning to his van,” explains Virginie in La Dépêche du Midi. A few moments later, the driver of the van returned towards the couple, armed with a black dagger with a blade of at least 20 cm.

“It’s okay, get out of there, we’re not calling the police!” »

Virginie tells the pedestrian to run away and leaves with her family to take refuge in her car. The driver of the van then approached the vehicle, shouting: “Are you going to call the police? ". According to the Dispatch, Cédric Coutouly, who got out of the vehicle, then tried to call the police. “The attacker is heading towards him. I scream. They grab each other and I see the phone flying,” she remembers. She then tries to intervene but is injured by the individual above the stomach.

Cédric Coutouly then says to his wife's attacker: "It's okay, get out of there, we're not calling the police! ". At this moment, the driver of the van in front of him stabs his left side with a knife.

The couple's son immediately leaves to seek help in the supermarket. “Come and help us, there’s daddy bleeding,” the child begs one of the employees. Cédric Coutouly succumbed to his injuries despite the intervention of emergency services.

The alleged perpetrator of the stabbing, who had fled, was quickly arrested and indicted for "murder, attempted murder, deliberate endangerment of others and intentional violence committed with a weapon by a person in a state of drunkenness” and placed in pre-trial detention.
