"NTC has taken note of the decision of the Puglia Region to suspend the program agreement granted for the approval of the development plan of the Test Center. We have received an official notification and we are open to continuing the dialogue with all the partners involved in the development plan and with the public. Our objective remains to ensure the future of the Nardò Technical Center and strengthen its role as an important employment and economic driver for the region." This is what the company states in a note.
Last night the governor of Puglia Michele Emiliano announced the suspension of the agreement for the expansion of the Porsche testing track in Nardò, in the province of Lecce. "The Region, once again - highlighted Emiliano - demonstrates its desire to combine the public interest underlying the implementation of the intervention with the protection of the environment". The project has been contested by environmentalists who say it would cause the loss of over 200 hectares of vegetation. "We have taken a decision in line with the ministry - continued the governor - in order to reconsider some aspects of the procedure following the specific indications provided by the European Commission".
