    Second best-selling VW model in Italy, preceded on the brand's podium only by the T-Roc, the Wolfsburg-based company's B-SUV has always been appreciated in our country for its ease of driving and its versatility combined with raised driving from suvvino. In fact, of the one million two hundred thousand units sold in four years worldwide, 100,000 examples were delivered to Italy.


    The so-called mid-life restyling has made its forms more captivating and its contents more satisfying, offering an improved level of interior finishing in an "outfit" characterized by LED headlights and small but successful style changes.


    Growing by 2.7 cm compared to the past due to the new shape of the bumpers, up to 4,135 mm, the 2024 T-Cross keeps the other external dimensions unchanged (width 1,760 mm, height 1,559 mm) and internal. The power unti proposal includes only the one-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol, available in two variants of 95 and 115 HP (+5 HP compared to the past), the latter available not only with manual gearbox but also with the automatic DSG.

    All versions of the T-Cross are now equipped with a digital dashboard, 8" or 10". The design of the dashboard has been adapted to the new generation of infotainment with an 8" or 9"2 cantilevered screen. Upholstery with softer materials goes hand in hand with more refined finishes. The passenger seat can be folded down, allowing objects up to 2.4 meters long to be loaded on board. The possibility of varying the loading volume of the luggage compartment by sliding the sofa by 14 cm has been confirmed.


    Furthermore, the Italian range debuts the Edition Plus version, wanted by the branch to meet the needs of the Italian public: for 26,400 euros, just 200 euros more than the entry-level Life version, it offers 2,100 euros of optional content , the main ones chosen in the past by those who wanted to enrich the "entry level". These are 17-inch alloy wheels instead of 16", metallic paint, tinted rear windows, rear camera, access on board and starting without using the key, photosensitive internal rear-view mirror, rain sensor for windshield wipers and automatic shutdown system of the high beams.


    The top of the range Style, offered at the same price as the sporty R-Line (from 29,200 euros) has, however, been made more personal and distinguishable with the adoption of the LED Matrix headlights with transversal band and the headlights with new three-dimensional graphics.


    Bright details not present on the R-Line which however adopts, like the rest of the offer, the new LED headlights and which goes from an aesthetic kit to a real version. In fact, it includes characterizing contents, such as the bumpers with honeycomb grilles, sports seats and aluminum pedals.


    Precisely with a 115 HP R-Line and automatic transmission (listed at 30,900 euros), we carried out a test of a hundred kilometers in the Verona hinterland, skirting Lake Garda and traveling both hilly roads full of curves and short fast stretches. Situations in which the raised cousin of the Polo confirmed that it is a pleasant and comfortable car to drive but also not very thirsty (6.3 litres/100 km was the data read on the on-board computer at the end of the test).


    The typical whine of the 3 cylinders can be clearly heard when accelerating, uphill and at higher speeds, but overall, however, it is not annoying. The 7-speed automatic transmission, smooth and punctual in gear changes, facilitates relaxed driving, particularly in the city, where the compact dimensions of the car are appreciated. On extra-urban roads, however, the electronic devices included in Travel Assist help you travel in complete safety.


    In short, the T-Cross evolves to be more enjoyable, confirming itself as a wild card on wheels due to its versatility and with the new Edition Plus proposal it becomes more interesting in terms of content/price ratio.
