Construction work officially began in March on the Laboratoire Innovation Cellule Batterie, at the Renault group's Technical Center in Lardy, in the Department of Essonne, France. Developed over a surface area of 3,000 m2, the two-storey building will house over 120 pieces of equipment, including a 600 m2 anhydrous laboratory room, and will allow the carrying out of two complementary activities: cell prototyping; and evaluation of cell performance and behavior.
This laboratory, of great strategic importance for anticipating technological progress relating to battery cells, and in seeking the best compromise between costs, performance, safety and sustainability, will operate at full capacity in the second half of 2025, and will be fundamental for new electric vehicles of the group, given that it will help control its value chain.
