“It seems that the quality of the police officers was known.” Around ten CRS were violently attacked, leaving a bar in the city center of Ajaccio (Southern Corsica) on the night of Friday April 12 to 13, by a group of around twenty individuals, Nicolas Septe, the public prosecutor of Ajaccio, told Parisian, confirming information from the Actu17 site.
An investigation was opened by his prosecutor's office for "violence in meetings against persons holding public authority" and entrusted to the interdepartmental direction of the national police (DIPN) of Corsica-du-Sud, he said.
Five to six days of ITT
This Friday, April 12, nine off-duty police officers spent the evening in a bar in downtown Ajaccio, “without any particular incident”. These members of CRS 54 from Marseille and 5 from Massy (Essonne) were detached to the Isle of Beauty for a “security operation”, as happens regularly, according to the public prosecutor.
Around 2 a.m., when the bar closed, one of the CRS was visibly “recognized by a man he would have fined earlier in the day”, explains Nicolas Septe. The latter physically attacked the police officer. His colleagues tried to intervene, before being hit in turn.
Five of the nine civil servants were allocated five and six days of total incapacity for work (ITT) according to our information.
CCTV footage available
The investigation, opened for “violence in meetings against persons holding public authority”, was entrusted to the interdepartmental direction of the national police of Corsica-du-Sud.
Among the twenty individuals present at the time of the police attack, “not all necessarily participated. We are still collecting testimonies,” specifies the Ajaccio prosecutor. The hearings are continuing to clarify the circumstances of the facts.
Thanks to the “video surveillance images” which filmed the scene, “the work of identifying the perpetrators of the attack is well advanced at this stage”, adds Nicolas Septe.
