Less than a month after the incarceration of guards at the Réau prison (Seine-et-Marne), a prison officer from Fresnes (Val-de-Marne) was incarcerated, as part of an investigation opened in court of Créteil (Val-de-Marne) for “introduction of prohibited objects or substances into detention”. An investigating judge has been appointed to continue the investigations, the Créteil public prosecutor's office confirmed this Thursday to Le Parisien.
She was arrested in prison on April 4 and brought to court, where her remand in custody was ordered. The investigation will have to demonstrate whether the facts with which he is accused are proven, with financial compensation or not, and whether there was complicity internal or external to the prison. Suspicions had been weighing on her for some time. The investigation will notably have to determine whether she was able to supply cannabis to detainees. No official information has been provided at this stage on the nature of the objects illicitly introduced. When contacted, the prison administration did not wish to comment.
Stationed in the inmate store
In office for several years at the Fresnes men's remand center - which has 1,700 inmates for 1,300 places - this agent was notably stationed in the canteen, this store which allows prisoners, according to their means, to 'buy foodstuffs or objects.
Other personnel, before her, have already had to be held accountable to the courts. Last month, six guards at the Réau prison (Seine-et-Marne) were indicted, including two imprisoned, for having participated in various trafficking - notably telephones, alcohol, narcotics - within the prison. In March 2023, another 39-year-old, stationed at the La Talaudière penitentiary center (Loire), was sentenced to three years in prison, half of which was suspended. He managed to smuggle food, game consoles, cell phones, drugs and even an inflatable swimming pool into prison.
At the Meaux-Chauconin penitentiary center (Seine-et-Marne), a guard was sentenced in 2020 to fifteen months in prison, without immediate incarceration. In court, he admitted to having introduced cannabis into the penitentiary center given by the relatives of an inmate, in exchange for 200 euros for each entry. In this same establishment, one of her colleagues was sentenced to a two-year suspended prison sentence for having brought in cell phones intended for prisoners.
