In a video posted on TikTok, a young woman calls out Emmanuel Macron on the situation of his mother, a victim of domestic violence,

In just five days, the video has almost two million views. On April 15, a user called “Broceliande” posted a video on TikTok addressed to Emmanuel Macron, to denounce the inaction of the justice system on the issue of domestic violence.

For more than five minutes, facing the camera, “Broceliande” reads the letter she sent to the President of the Republic, who made violence against women the “great cause” of his mandates. She tells the story of her mother, victim of domestic violence by her ex-partner, who has just lost her case against him.

“Dear President, I have the honor to inform you that my mother has lost her case. A little over a year ago, my sister called me to tell me that my mother was attacked outside our house by her former partner. After months of fearing separation, she finally found the courage to do it, and he, after months of begging her to come back, saw that it wasn't working. So one evening, he waited, hiding all night below our house, and while she was returning from a party with friends, he attacked her,” she begins.

“He promised her that if she didn’t come back, he would kill her.”

“Dear President, that night he not only assaulted her, he also made her a promise: dear President, he promised her that if she did not return, he would kill her and perhaps even her children,” she continues. “Does that surprise you? Not us,” she replies. Because the ex-companion, according to the young woman, is “violent”, “angry”, “obsessive”, “alcoholic”, has numerous firearms and a criminal record.

“I'm telling you about a man who, six years ago, sawed off the barrel of his rifle (

a technique allowing more precision and power

), and pointed at my mother and me during a fit of anger , screaming that we deserved to die,” she continues.

“Broceliande” then reviews the nightmarish daily life of the family, terrified by this man, who sometimes stays for several hours below their home, “follows” his mother and “finds her wherever she goes”. “My dearest President, while you sleep peacefully, my little sister has anxiety attacks and nightmares where she sees her entire family being killed. »

The young woman also denounces the inaction of the police: “When my mother calls the police to tell them that he is parked below the house, following her (…), she is told that the street is public and he has the right to be there. »

“You do not listen to the dead, you will not hear the living”

Despite a file made up of 37 attachments, complaints, testimonies and handouts against his mother's ex-partner, the courts did not renew the latter's protection order, valid for six months. “A judge has just decided not to protect a mother and her children because

maybe she is lying

. Dear President, we are not talking about a conviction but a simple protection order prohibiting him from coming near us.”

According to “Broceliande”, the man would have put together a five-page file describing his ex-partner as a “p****”, claiming that one of his daughters-in-law “would practice black magic” .

“Dear president, I am afraid because every day I see the number of feminicides increasing and for more than a year I cannot help but think that one day I will see the name of my mother and my sisters there. “, she continues. And according to her, “it’s always the same thing”. Despite complaints, death threats, alerts to law enforcement, these women, victims of femicide, were “strangled, beaten to death, stabbed, tortured, burned alive. Because we didn't believe them. Often, the murderers were known to the police,” she denounces.

The young woman then concludes poignantly: “My dear president, he is going to kill her. He will do it, maybe tomorrow, in six months or in a year. There are some who wait for years for the right time to come. » If she explains that she hesitated to speak out, she decided to do so for the other victims: “Dear president, I am writing to you but I do not expect anything from you. You don't listen to the dead, you won't hear the living. »

The video ends with an excerpt of a call from his mother on the “serious danger” phone: “A judge decided to cancel the protection order, which was the only fragile shield that protected me from this gentleman (…) I don't know if it is necessary to bring as ultimate proof a body, a corpse, of myself or of one of my children for justice to realize the extent of what we are experiencing and the consequences of his decision,” she explains calmly.

The video sparked many reactions, several Internet users tagged Emmanuel Macron and his Prime Minister Gabriel Attal in the video, hoping for support.
