It concerns a 45-year-old man, residing in the town, whose family had reported his disappearance, the Dax prosecutor's office informed Le Parisien this Saturday, April 20.
Last Sunday, late in the afternoon, a resident of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, alerted by an unusual odor, discovered a lifeless, charred body in a field near their house. He immediately raises the alarm. Around 6:45 p.m., the gendarmes from the Dax departmental brigade arrived on site, according to the Dax public prosecutor, Céline Bucau.
A man missing for several days
They are joined by criminal identification investigators and a forensic doctor in the evening. A helicopter is also mobilized to fly over the area. An investigation was quickly opened by the Dax public prosecutor's office and entrusted to the Pau research section to identify the victim and understand the circumstances of this death.
At the same time, the gendarmes launched a call for witnesses on Facebook to find a 45-year-old man, living in Saint-Vincent-de-Paul. Julien L., approximately 1.78 m tall, of normal build and with a shaved head, has no longer responded to calls from his loved ones since Friday April 12.
The two cases are then combined. “DNA comparison analyzes were carried out between the charred body and the personal effects of the deceased,” explains the public prosecutor, confirming “that it is the same person.” The DNA of the missing person was also found on the lighter found near the deceased in the field, adds Céline Bucau.
