After the rampage at a university in the Russian city of Perm in the Urals, the number of people injured rose to 37 and six people died.

According to the region's Ministry of Health, among the injured are those who would have turned to doctors later and are now being treated on an outpatient basis.

Twelve injured are therefore in clinics in Perm, seven seriously injured in the capital Moscow.

In the city, about 1200 kilometers east of Moscow, a law student shot at him with a hunting rifle and killed six people on Monday.

The number of injured was initially given as more than 20.

Around 100 doctors operated on injured people in the hospitals in Perm alone.

Regional Health Minister Anastassija Kruten described the condition of the shooter, who was seriously injured when he was arrested, as extremely critical.

Part of his leg was amputated.

Students escaped through windows

The man had previously announced his deed on the Internet and declared that he did not pursue any ideologies.

Investigations are underway against him.

Inside the building, students had barricaded the doors with chairs and tables.

They had been asked to lock themselves in the classrooms.

Teachers said they had holed up in front of the masked man in their offices.

Videos can be seen how some students escaped through windows.

It is not the first fatal attack on an educational institution in Russia this year.

In May, a 19-year-old killed nine people in a school in Kazan in the Russian republic of Tatarstan.

Most of the victims were children.

More than 20 people were injured.

The man was arrested for murder and is on remand.
