The background to the crime is still completely unclear. Just last Thursday there was a knife attack on students at a school in Wuppertal. Seven students and the alleged perpetrator were injured in the attack, which authorities classified as an amok. According to the police and public prosecutor's office, there is evidence of mental illness in the 17- year-old perpetrator.
